Junior Rotarians of Lake Nona


Become a charter member of the newest, most dynamic program for high school students.  "Junior Rotarians" We are enrolling members now to plan the events listed below, when school starts back in August.
 
We are holding enrollment and organization meetings on Saturday April 19th, and on Saturday May 27 from 9 - 10:30AM at Innovation High School, 12401 Dowden Rd, Orlando, FL 32832.
 
If you invested in becoming a Charter Member of the Junior Rotarian Club, we invite you to complete the application using the link below.  Parental consent is required, so please ensure a patron or guardian assists you in completing the form.  A confirmation email will be sent to all parents in regard to your application. 
 
Upon approval as a Junior Rotarian you will receive a notice where and how to pay for your membership fee.  There is an annual fee of $25.00 to purchase your Junior Rotarian T-shirt and for administrative fees.
 
 
 
 
What Is Junior Rotarians?

 

A program for high school students to make a difference in their community and their personal lives.

Junior Rotarians are sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lake Nona.

Junior Rotarians will have their own Student Council Board of Advisors. 

Rotarians will serve this program as advisors and mentors.

Rotary is a worldwide service organization.  It wa established in 1905.  Rotary has over 1.2 million members worldwide.  There are currently over 400,000 students involved in Rotary programs.  

 

 

Community Service
The official motto of Rotary Clubs is "Service Above Self". This motto best conveys the organization's philosophy of selfless volunteer service
 
Serving our community and others is the bedrock of the Junior Rotarians program. 
 
The Rotary Club of Lake Nona is establishing a directory on our website of organizations in the Central Florida area who need volunteers.
 
Junior Rotarians can volunteer as a group for organizations who need many volunteers.
Junior Rotarians can contact organizations directly that are listed on our volunteer website and select the date and time to volunteer that fits their schedule.
 
Members can download our app so they can enter the hours they volunteer, and a letter will be sent to their school at the end of the year verifying the hours they volunteer.
 
Social Interaction
Social interaction is very important to the well-being and growth as leaders for our Junior Rotarians.
 
Tail-gate Party
A designated area will be secured in order for our Junior Rotarians to gather prior to a football game.  Hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks will be served.  A DJ will be providing entertainment.
 
Bowl-a-Rama
Junior Rotarians can come together and enjoy a fun time bowling or just socializing.
 
Dances:
Plans for two dances per year.  What a perfect time to have fun, let yourself go and interact with friends.
Seminars & Meetings

Junior Rotarians will meet once per month on Saturday morning between 9 – 11.  We will meet at TBD.

List of seminars:

College admission.

Experts in college admission  from state and private colleges will conduct a seminar covering information on the application process, key components like essays and transcripts, strategies for choosing schools that fit your profile, understanding different application deadlines, insights into what admissions officers look for, and guidance on test preparation (SAT/ACT)

Presenters will cover the cost of attending college.

Junior Rotarians will have the opportunity to ask the presenters questions.   

 

Grants and Scholarships

Presenters from state and private colleges will conduct a seminar on college grants and scholarships. The seminar will cover information about different types of financial aid available to students, including federal and state grants, institutional scholarships, private scholarships, eligibility requirements for each program, how to apply for grants and scholarships, important deadlines, strategies for maximizing financial aid, and tips for writing compelling scholarship essays. 

Time will be allocated for questions.  

Students and The Law

Local Attorneys will present engaging education sessions tailored for teens.  These attorneys who specialize in legal issues pertaining to high school and college student.  This event will delve into the potential challenges young adults may encounter, providing valuable insight to help them navigate the legal landscape confidently.  It's an excellent opportunity for students to become informed about their rights and responsibilities, empowering them to make well-informed decisions.  

Ethics and Morals

What type of person do you want to be? How do you deal with unwelcome confrontations.  How will your conduct affect your life not only now but in the future.

Financial

Licensed financial advisors will cover many areas of finances that can help you not only now but in the future.

These interactive sessions will guide teens through essential financial topics, including bank accounts, saving strategies, debit and credit card management, loans, and investments.  This workshop's designed to equip you with practical knowledge to manage your current finances effectively and build a secure financial future.  Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights and set the foundation for financial success.
